I started Solar Yoda LLC in 2011 with a simple idea: homeowners and business owners deserve honest, unbiased guidance when going solar. Not a sales pitch from someone who only sells one company’s product.
After more than 14 years in the Maryland solar industry, that idea still drives everything I do. I have seen the solar market evolve from a niche curiosity into one of the most practical investments a property owner can make. I have also seen how confusing it can be. Every installer claims to be the best. Every financing option sounds like the smartest choice. And most solar salespeople only know – or only offer – one solution.
That is where I come in.
Why “Solar Yoda”?
The name started as a joke between friends, but the more I thought about it, the more it fit. Yoda is wise, independent, and works in service of others – not for any empire. That is exactly how I see my role. I am not here to sell you a system. I am here to guide you to the right decision, using experience and knowledge that comes from over a decade of navigating this industry from every angle.
What Makes Me Different
I am an independent solar broker and consultant. That means I am not employed by any single solar installer, manufacturer, or financing company. When you work with me, you get access to proposals from multiple top-rated national, regional, and local installation teams. I compare them side by side and help you understand the real differences – not just the marketing materials.
Whether you are a homeowner looking at rooftop solar, a church or non-profit exploring a commercial power purchase agreement, or a renter who wants to save through community solar, I have a path for you. I have spent years building relationships with the best installers and staying current on Maryland’s ever-changing incentive landscape – Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs), the Maryland Solar Access Grant, and local utility programs.
My Approach
Every conversation starts with listening. I want to understand your property, your electricity usage, your budget, and your goals before I recommend anything. Sometimes the best advice I give is “solar is not the right move for you right now” – and I am comfortable saying that because I do not have a quota to hit.
When solar does make sense, I walk you through the entire process: site evaluation, system design review, installer selection, financing comparison, permitting, interconnection, and incentive capture. You get a consultant who stays with you from first conversation through final inspection and beyond.
