Overview
The Tesla Powerwall 3 is a fully integrated solar and battery system designed to give homeowners complete energy independence. Unlike most home batteries that require a separate solar inverter, Powerwall 3 includes a built-in DC-coupled inverter supporting up to 20 kW of solar input across 6 MPPTs, making it a true all-in-one solution.
With 13.5 kWh of usable energy storage and 11.5 kW of continuous AC output, a single Powerwall 3 can support the power needs of most homes during a grid outage. Its 185 A LRA load start capability means it can handle the surge current required to start heavy appliances like air conditioners, well pumps, and heat pumps without breaking a sweat.
Key Features
Integrated Solar Inverter: Built-in DC-coupled inverter with 6 MPPTs supports up to 20 kW of solar input, eliminating the need for a separate string inverter. CEC-weighted solar-to-home efficiency reaches 97.5%.
Whole-Home Backup: 11.5 kW of continuous power and 185 A LRA motor start capability can power your entire home, including HVAC systems, during an outage.
Modular Scalability: Stack up to 4 Powerwall 3 units plus 3 Expansion units for a maximum of 94.5 kWh of energy storage and 46 kW of continuous power.
Seamless Backup Transition: Works with Tesla Gateway 3 or Backup Switch to automatically detect grid outages and provide seamless transition to backup power.
Tesla App Control: Monitor and manage your energy system from anywhere using the Tesla mobile app. Customize backup reserve, enable Storm Watch, and track real-time energy flows.
Made in the USA: Powerwall 3 is manufactured at Tesla Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada.
